Founders Paul and Linda Johnson of Service Dogs Saving Lives (SDSL) recently joined ABC7’s Suncoast View alongside veteran Sean Brown and his service dog, Nick, to spotlight their life-saving mission. The in-studio conversation focused on the role service dogs play in supporting veterans and first responders while raising awareness for Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month.
A Mission with Purpose
Every day, veterans and first responders struggle silently with trauma, PTSD, and depression — challenges that can tragically lead to suicide. Service Dogs Saving Lives provides a powerful tool for healing: pairing highly trained service dogs with individuals in need.
“These dogs do more than provide companionship,” shared co-founder Paul Johnson. “They restore independence, stability, and hope not only for the recipient, but also for their family and community.”
September Campaign: Be a Lifesaver
In honor of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, SDSL has launched a community campaign to save lives by becoming a lifesaver to a hero. The organization’s 2025 goal is to provide three to five service dogs to veterans and first responders in need.
To make this possible, SDSL is calling on the community’s support. Thanks to generous donors, every gift made during September will be doubled — amplifying the impact for those who need it most.
