On May 29, 2026, Service Dogs Saving Lives welcomed supporters, sponsors, volunteers, veterans, first responders, and community members to the third annual Hearts & Heroes event at the Ocean View VFW Post 7234 in Delaware. The evening brought together people from across the community for a powerful night dedicated to hope, healing, and saving lives through the life-changing gift of service dogs.
Guests enjoyed live music, dinner, raffles, and inspiring stories that highlighted the profound impact service dogs have on veterans and first responders living with the invisible wounds of service. More importantly, the event served as a reminder that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
Alex, a guest speaker and Pennsylvania State Trooper, shared his inspiring journey of resilience, determination, and courage with his loyal canine friend, Peter.
Because of the generosity of our supporters, Hearts & Heroes was more than a fundraiser; it was a celebration of compassion, resilience, and community. Every ticket purchased, sponsorship secured, raffle ticket sold, and donation made helps provide training scholarships and service dogs to deserving veterans and first responders at no cost to them.
Most importantly, Hearts & Heroes demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together around a shared mission: turning tragedy into hope and creating lifelines for those who have sacrificed so much for others. The funds raised will help Service Dogs Saving Lives continue its mission of educating communities, reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, and placing highly trained service dogs with those who need them most.
To everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and shared our mission, thank you. Your gift of time, talent, and treasure is helping save lives, one service dog at a time.
